Fuelled by the desire to create an inclusive space for local Hamburg artists from minority communities, I co-founded and launched watermelon art collective (then known as watermelon art fair) in April 2024. What started as a one-time project, soon became a fixture in the city’s activism space with events fundraising in aid of humanitarian organisations in Palestine, Sudan and Lebanon as well as local grassroots organisations in Hamburg. In the 8 months since it was founded, watermelon art collective has successfully raised close to €7.000 while supporting close to 25 local artists and 4 humanitarian organisations.
